WHAT TO CONSIDER BEFORE GOING ON TOUR?
Please show up 15 minutes prior to departure time for tour check-in. People who have to rent a bike are required to arrive 15 minutes prior to departure to get their bikes. Please be on time so that we all have a smooth start of the tour! Every participant will be asked to read and sign a waiver before the tour begins, agreeing to respect and follow the local road laws and to obey posted signage during the entire tour.
WHAT TO WEAR?
Helmets are highly recommended! Those who rent from us will get one at our shop. If you have your own helmet, please bring it. Despite not being required by law in Pennsylvania, please wear a helmet for your own safety!
Besides that, wear comfortable clothing. Make sure you put shoes on that allow you to have a good grip on the bike pedals. Sandals should have a strap around the ankle. Shoes with heels are not recommended, unless you are a very experienced rider. We know, flip-flops are very comfy during summer time, but for your own safety, there are no NO FLIP-FLOPS ALLOWED on the bike tour. So sorry!
WHAT TO BRING?
Please bring curiosity and some interest for history and architecture. Our tours are historical and architectural tours. Besides that, consider bringing a refillable bottle with the liquid of your choice. We are really trying hard to reduce the disposable plastics on this planet and are therefore NOT handing out complimentary water bottles. It is the core of our mission to promote a greener and sustainable way of life as we only have one planet! If you forget your drink, you can purchase a water bottle for $2 in the shop.
WHAT IF IT RAINS?
Our rain policy is very simple: "It rarely rains all day in Pittsburgh!" A final decision will be made 1 hour before tour times. If needed, the tour will be canceled and rescheduled for either later in the day or for another date. We try our best to make any changes comfortable for all our customers. And: In case we get a sprinkle while on tour, we carry rain ponchos.
WHAT IF I CAN’T ATTEND THE SCHEDULED TOUR?
No problem!
Reschedule: Your tour reservation can easily be rescheduled, at no charge, obviously subject to availability. Just give us a call or write us an email at least 24 hours in advance. If we are unable to reschedule the tour, you will be issued a tour credit for use anytime in the future.
Cancel: If you give us heads up 24 hours before the tour starts, we will cancel your tour reservation and give you your money back. In case of a less than 24 hours advance notice you will get a tour credit for use anytime in the future.
No-show: If you don't show up for the tours without letting us know ahead of time, you automatically lose the right to receive a refund.
WHAT IF A TOUR GETS CANCELED?
Bike The Burgh Tours reserves the right to cancel the tour until 1 hour before the scheduled time. In case a tour gets canceled, you may reschedule without any extra charges or request a full refund.
WHAT FITNESS LEVEL IS REQUIRED?
The routes are very easy to ride, several stops will be made over the course of 3 hours. Therefore, if you feel comfortable riding a bike, there shouldn’t be any problem taking a tour with us. But still: Be honest to yourself and think about your health condition. Are you capable to handle hot summer temperatures? If you have serious health problems, please do not go on a ride with us. People over the age of 75 should fully assess overall physical health and reconsider riding if necessary.
Tour guides reserve the right to prevent riders from going on tour.
Stay hydrated, so don’t forget to bring your water bottle! Also, make sure you eat something before getting physically active. And don't forget the sunscreen!
